Plan a Trip to Beachcomber Island

When visiting the Pacific Islands, Beachcomber Island is an absolute must see tourist attraction. This isn’t an island for the faint of heart or older folks looking for a quiet getaway. This place is where the party happens. Here are just a few of the things you can expect to see when visiting the largest party in all the Pacific Islands.

First, you can expect beautiful beaches and extraordinary weather. The only thing more beautiful than a Pacific Islands sunset is the white sandy beaches you can sink your feet into whenever you roll out of bed. The hard partying evenings eventually give way to sun-up and there’s no better place to be with a fold out chair than in the beautiful clear water resting on white sands.

Second, don’t visit Beachcomber Island when you happen to be on a diet. Many vacationers diet to look good in a bathing suit when visiting the islands but once you reach shore it’s time to shed the idea of counting calories. Beachcomber Island is know for having large feasts with delicious food native to the area. There’s also likely to be a pig roast or other large meat BBQ to fill the bellies of willing partying tourists.

There are also many different water sports available of the island. Sailboats are available for rental. You can also take a short scuba class and rent gear to do some scuba diving if you wish. Naturally, there is water volleyball and an assortment of other sports to connect vacationers with one another for a more enjoyable island visit.

Warm Weather Destinations

There are few vacation spots more beautiful than he Pacific Islands. The islands are broken up into three sets, each offering traditional warm weather activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, and golf. Below are the three sets of islands as well as the main islands that comprise them:

Melanesia-The largest island in the Pacific Ocean is New Guinea, and it is the main island of Melanesia. This is the best known spot in the Pacific Island and attracts thousands of tourists each year looking for a tropical getaway.

Micronesia- Unlike Melanesia which is mostly one large island, Micronesia is comprised of much smaller islands. Guam is the most famous of these islands and attracts many divers and others who are looking to explore clear blue waters.

Polynesia- Polynesia isn’t known for being a big or small island, instead, it is renowned for being many islands. Included in this set of islands is both New Zealand as well as the Hawaiian Islands.

The Pacific Islands are divided into high islands and low islands which is how they are generally best known to tourists. Depending on what you are looking for in your vacation experience, it would be best to explore the individual tourism boards of the islands in order to determine your ideal spot. A vacationer looking for the best snorkeling and diving sports may desire a different spot than the avid golfer.

Planning a trip to a tropical destination is a fun and exciting experience but you’d be best served doing your due diligence before making a commitment. Once thing is for sure, you will not be dissapointed in the Pacific Islands if you are looking for a beautiful vacation destination.

Luxury Hotels in the Pacific Islands

When it comes to taking a relaxing vacation, it’s hard to beat what you can get at a luxury hotel or resort. There are plenty of them in the Pacific Islands, which is a beautiful destination to consider. Two of the most popular hotels there are Likuliku Lagoon Resort and Turtle Island Fiji. These are very private and very secluded, and they’re designed for couples who really want to get away from it all and just be together for a while. Many Pacific Island resorts restrict the number of couples who can stay at any one time to a small number, so you won’t be dealing with packed restaurants and overcrowded beaches. Those things can ruin a vacation and keep it from feeling relaxed. Both Turtle Island Fiji and Likuliku Lagoon Resort take just a few couples at a time, and you can have the privacy and peace that you’re looking for in a luxury hotel. If you want to stay in your room all day or just lie on the beach, you can do just that. You can also snorkel, dive, and get close to nature with the beautiful tropical surroundings. If you’re looking for a high-end place to take a truly breathtaking vacation, either one of these resorts would be a good choice for you. There won’t be any families with crying children, or a lot of large crowds to deal with. Peace and tranquility are the words of the day in these locations. It’s great when you can go on a vacation where you can do absolutely nothing and enjoy it, or where you can decide on a moment’s notice to do something fun and adventurous. No matter what you like to do and what you enjoy doing as a couple with your partner, you’ll have options. At the end of the day, you can retire to luxury and amenities, and let the sound of the ocean soothe you to sleep.

Melanesia

The Pacific Islands are composed of 20,000 to 30,000 islands located in the Pacific Ocean. The Pacific Islands are sometimes called Oceania, although that name can be used to include Australasia and the Malay Archipelago. There are three divisions of these islands: Micronesia, Polynesia, and Melanesia.

The islands are split into two groups known as the high islands and the low islands. Melanesia is considered the high islands, having many volcanoes, whereas Micronesia and Plynesia are the low islands, where there are many reefs, and the islands are generally small and infertile. The high islands have much more fertile soil, and are able to hold more people. Due to this, Melanesia is the most populated of the tree regions.

Melanesia is a sub region of the Pacific Islands that extends from the western edge of the Pacific Ocean to the Afafura Sea. The name Melanesia comes from the Greek language, a word meaning ‘black islands’. The name can be uses either geographically or anthropologically. Some islands in the Melanesia division include New Guinea, Zenhadh Kes, New Caledonia, Fiji, and the Solomon Islands.

The people that originally lived on the islands were most likely the ancestors of the present-day Papaun-speaking people. About 4,000 years ago these preexisting inhabitants came into contact with the Austonesian people. There was most likely a long period of interaction between these two groups. Research shows that Melanesians were probably not related to the inhabitants of the other Pacific Islands.

Instead of a government of royalty, they chose their leaders based on their personality. They would choose high-placed women as partners, and certain qualities such as combat skills were very important. In the islands today, they have a European-style government, and elect officials democratically, although few islands such as New Guinea and the Solomon Islands have a constitutional monarchy.

Micronesia

Made up of 20,000 to 30,000 islands, the Pacific Islands, which are often referred to as Oceania, lie in the Pacific Ocean. These islands are grouped as either high islands or low islands and divided into three sub regions. The sub region that contains most of the high islands is called Melanesia, while the low islands are either part of Polynesia or Micronesia.

The name Micronesia comes from the Greek words ‘mkros nesos’, meaning ‘small islands’. Micronesia consists of the islands in the western part of the Pacific Ocean. Most of these islands lie north of the equator. Some of these islands include the Marianas, Buam, Palau, the Marshall Islands, Wake Island, and the Federal States of Micronesia.

Micronesia was dominated by Europeans quite early in history. Spain took a hand in colonizing some of these islands. Due to Spain’s colonization of this area, the islands became part of the Spanish East Indies, and were governed by the Spanish Philippines. It was not until the early 1900′s that full European expansion occurred. During this time, the United States, Germany, and the British Empire conquered some of these islands.

The people that live in Micronesia today are all very different, but are all decedents from the Micronesian culture. This culture was one of the last cultures of that region to develop. The culture developed from a mixture of Polynesians, Filipinos, and Melanesians, which now creates diversity among the people. Some of these people feel more closely related to one of these groups, rather than all of them.

The native language of the Micronesian people comes from the Austroneisian language. Two exceptions to this include the language Chamorro, which is spoken in the Marinana Islands, and the language Palauan, which is spoken in Palau. Neither of these languages are considered to be a Micronesian or Polynesian language, unlike the languages spoken in the rest of this region.

Dream Vacation in Micronesia

What ever happened to your dream vacation on the beach? If the beach is your style, perhaps your dream vacation is Micronesia in the Pacific Islands. Micronesia is a large area that covers a third of the islands in Oceania with a variety of islands to visit. With over 600 islands in the Federated States of Micronesia, you will find a variety of places to visit. The waters that surround these islands are known to be some of the clearest in the world and said to be a paradise for divers. The Micronesians have an interesting culture, ensuring your vacation to be educational and fun.

The Marshal Islands are known for their marine life. With over 160 species of coral, you are sure to have a wonderful diving experience. These islands are also well known for their coconut and papaya plantations.

If someone in your group isn’t into diving, the Northern Mariana Islands will be the place for you. Not only do these islands have beautiful water, but they have some of the best scenery, too. These 14 islands are made of volcanoes and include a variety of cliffs, bays, caves, and mountains.

Although all of these locations have great diving opportunities, you will probably find the best diving experience to be in Palau. With over 1,500 species of fish and 700 species of coral, you are sure to find this experience exciting. Not only will you see an abundance of fish and coral, but you will see WWII shipwrecks also.

If you’re looking for a beach, or a place to dive into clear blue water, Micronesia is definitely the place for you. With the clear water and wonderful variety of fish and coral, your diving experience will be an experience to remember.

Pacific Island Divisions

In the Pacific Ocean there are 20,000 to 30,000 islands that make up the Pacific islands. These islands are divided into two groups and three divisions. These two groups include the high lands and the low lands. Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia make up the divisions of the islands. Melanesia consists of mostly high lands while Micronesia and Polynesia consist of mostly low lands.

The name Melanesia comes from two Greek words meaning ‘black islands’. Melanesia extends from the Arafura Sea to the western end of the Pacific Ocean. Evidence shows that Melanesians are not genetically related to Micronesians or Polynesians. Some islands in Melanesia include New Guinea, Fiji, New Caledonia, and the Solomon Islands.

Micronesia is a name that comes from two Greek words meaning ‘small island’. The Micronesian culture was the last of these divisions to develop. Many of these islands were ruled by the Spanish in the 17th century until the 20th century when the United States, the British Empire, and Germany, took over few of the islands. Some islands located in Micronesia include the Marianas, Guam, Palau, the Marshal Islands, Wake Island, and the Federated States of Micronesia. Most of these islands lie north of the equator.

Polynesia comes from the Greek language and means ‘many islands’. This is the largest of the three divisions. Polynesia is defined as the islands inside of the Polynesian Triangle. The points of this triangle are considered to be Hawaii, New Zealand, and Easter Island. Some of these islands include New Zealand, Easter Island, Rotuma, the Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, the Cook Islands, and the Hawaiian Islands.

Many of these islands contain many tourist attractions. They are known for their scenery, abundance in fish and coral species, and their WWII shipwrecks. The water surrounding these islands are a very clear blue, making snorkeling and scuba diving a great business and tourist attraction.

The Geography of The Pacific

The Pacific Islands are so much more than a group of islands. In fact, by some estimates there are as many as 30,000 islands that make up the grouping. The islands, which are located south of the Tropic of Cancer, are comprised of three major groups: Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia. Each of these distinct groups is noteworthy and unique. No trip through the Pacific Islands would be complete without at least one stop at each of the three groups.

Polynesia
Polynesia may very well contain the most famous of the Pacific Islands. Located within this grouping are New Zealand, Rotuma, The Hawaiian Islands, Midway Islands, American Samoa, Samoa, Tuvalu, Tonga, The Cook Islands and many more. Polynesia means, in fact, many islands. It is the largest of the three island groupings.

Melanesia
Melanesia, which means black islands, is also popular. Islands such as New Guinea (the largest of all the Pacific Islands), New Caledonia, the Solomon Islands and Fiji.

Micronesia
The “Small Islands,” or Micronesia, is full of many small islands, some of which are actually north of the equator. Islands in this group include Guam, Marianas, Wake Island, the Marshall Islands, Palau and the Federated States of Micronesia.

It is interesting to note that many of the islands are defined not by their own physical nature but by the archipelago they are a part of. Others use their political alliances to define them. Languages, of which many are similar, are distinct to the region and rely heavily on the glottal stop. Very few of the Pacific Island languages are written.

In some cases, the Pacific Islands are referred to as “Oceania” This definition is somewhat misleading as “Oceania” also includes the Malay Archipelago and Australasia. The Pacific Islands are a unique region of the world. Its many islands have created just as many cultures, traditions and languages.

Polynesia

The Pacific Islands, sometimes referred to as Oceania, is made up of 20,000 to 30,000 islands in the Pacific Ocean. These islands are separated into two groups and three divisions. The two groups are the high lands and the low lands. The high lands are made up of volcanoes, have very fertile soil and are the most populated. Contrary, the low lands are made of reefs, are small, and are quite infertile. The divisions of these islands are Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. The high lands include the division Melanesia, while the Micronesia and Polynesia are divisions of the low lands.

Polynesia is a name that comes from a Greek word meaning ‘many islands’. Polynesia is the largest of the three divisions, which is made up of over 1,000 islands across the central and southern part of the Pacific Ocean. Some of these islands located in this division include New Zealand, the Hawaiian Islands, Samoa, the Cook Islands, and Easter Island.

The Polynesian ancestors are considered to be the Austronesian people based on the Polynesian languages. According to archaeological evidence, the Austronesian people originally came from Taiwan. They had a government based on hereditary bloodline. Religion, fishing, and farming were very important because the entire island depended on these skills. Trading and navigation were also very important. Famines were frequent, due to hurricanes, making fishing necessary. Along with their important skills that helped them to survive, they were very talented artists, creating simple objects and decorations.

The people of Polynesia are known as Polynesians and share similarities in language, beliefs, and culture. Polynesia is divided into two cultural groups known as East Polynesia and West Polynesia. The West Polynesian culture has well developed trading traditions and strong marriages. The East Polynesian culture the people were well adapted to small islands and smaller groups.
