What to Pack on Your Tropical Vacation

If you plan to travel abroad to a warm weather destination and wait out the winter, there are a few things you’ll need to remember to pack. Vacation to Barbados

If you are looking for a tropical vacation destination, Barbados may be the perfect place for you. It is the most easterly island of the Caribbean Island chain and it sits all by itself with the Caribbean on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. It is a small island at only 166 square miles and is 21 miles long and 14 miles wide. Warm Weather Destinations

There are few vacation spots more beautiful than he Pacific Islands. The islands are broken up into three sets, each offering traditional warm weather activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, and golf. Below are the three sets of islands as well as the main islands that comprise them:

Melanesia-The largest island in the Pacific Ocean is New Guinea, and it is the main island of Melanesia. This is the best known spot in the Pacific Island and attracts thousands of tourists each year looking for a tropical getaway.

Micronesia- Unlike Melanesia which is mostly one large island, Micronesia is comprised of much smaller islands. Guam is the most famous of these islands and attracts many divers and others who are looking to explore clear blue waters.

Polynesia- Polynesia isn’t known for being a big or small island, instead, it is renowned for being many islands. Included in this set of islands is both New Zealand as well as the Hawaiian Islands.

The Pacific Islands are divided into high islands and low islands which is how they are generally best known to tourists. Depending on what you are looking for in your vacation experience, it would be best to explore the individual tourism boards of the islands in order to determine your ideal spot. A vacationer looking for the best snorkeling and diving sports may desire a different spot than the avid golfer.

For example, Blake Mycoskie, founder of Toms Shoes, noticed that many villagers in Argentina did not have shoes. The philanthropist went on to design a line of footwear based on the shoes some people there were wearing.

When Mycoskie saw potential in the shoes worn by just a few people, he decided to redesign them. The espadrilles shoes were modified with rubber soles, inside leather, and colorful patterns. Now, Mycoskie sells these shoes in stores around the world and also donates a new pair every time someone buys one. The idea for this generosity came to Blake Mycoskie out of pure exposure to how another society was living. Toms Shoes is a company that serves to help people. Whether customers want to buy t-shirts, caps, or shoes, the company will donate a pair of espadrilles shoes to people who need them.

Blake Mycoskie came up with the idea while staying in a village where he was volunteering. Reading about, seeing pictures online, or just going on vacation to relax somewhere doesn’t even spark the perspective needed to grow a philanthropic idea like what Toms Shoes is based on. You have to experience life in another place. The inspiration brought on by wondering how you can change things for the better can lead to great achievements. Toms Shoes has not only become a force in the retail world, but also in societies where people lack basic needs.

Great Places to Hike in Hawaii

If you are someone who loves to hike and you go to Hawaii, you are going to discover that there are a lot of opportunities for some great hiking in Hawaii.

When you hike on Kauai, you are going to be able to see a lot of sites there that you wouldn’t see otherwise.  A couple of the best bets for hiking are in Kokee State Park, Russian Fort Elizabeth, Waimea Canyon, the Wailua Falls, and right along the very nice Halemanu-Kokee trail.

In Maui, there are a lot of choices for those who love to hike – the Waihe’e Valley Rainforest, the Iao Valley State Park, thre crater of Haleakala, and the Waikamoi Ridge Trail.

For those who are visiting Oahu, Manoa Falls and Diamond head are the two favorites for those who love to hike. But even though those are the two popular ones, there are a lot of other trails that aren’t as popular.

When you are hiking in Hawaii, it’s a good idea to bring sunscreen, mosquito repellent, drinking water, and a rain poncho, along with some comfortable walking shoes.  It’s important to note that the trails are often slippery, so it’s a good idea to proceed with caution when hiking.

Hikers love Hawaii because they know that they are going to see some really beautiful scenery. While other people would rather be out on the beaches, soaking up the rays and catching some waves in the surf, they would rather meander along the hiking trails and see some of the amazing scenery that Hawaii has to offer.

Most people have found that Hawaii is one of the places that you can see some really beautiful foliage and wildlife and nothing is better than taking a hike along one of the trails and seeing everything that is has to offer firsthand.

Turning a Vacation Into Staycation

Have you ever been to a place that was so incredible you loved it for more than just “getting away” from your regular life? If you have ever been to a place that was so beautiful, so much fun, and had so much to offer you that you actually began to consider making this new place your home…you have got one of the hardest decisions of your life sitting right in front of you. And while you do have all of the time in the world in which to make this decision, it is not going to get any easier if you wait a day…or a year. And just think of all the good times that you may be missing if you wait that long to finally say “yes, I’ll do it,” or “no thanks, it was just silly dream.”

They say that people usually have a lot more regrets when they get older about the things they did not do, instead of the things they did do. When you are older, do you still want to be living in the same town you are now? If not, why do you stay? If you are not married, have no kids, and your job is something you could replicate just about anywhere, what kind of inertia has such a strong hold on you, anyway?

If you do want to move, there are lots of things you have to consider. Obviously, you are going to want to request and compare moving quotes. Moving is not usually as easy as jumping on your Harley and telling your landlord that he can put the deposit “where the Sun don’t shine,” after all. As much fun as it is to go to the place of your dreams…nothing in life is too easy. This is why the decision whether or not to move is such a difficult one.
