There are many benefits to travelling to the tropics in the summer time. Sure, in an ideal world, you would visit the tropics in the winter time when cold and snow and driving you mad. It might not even occur to most people to go to the Bahamas of other tropical area in July or August, but there are plenty of reasons to do it. If you want the experience but don’t want to spend every last dime of your savings on a trip, then here are a couple of reasons why it makes sense to visit in the summer.

1.) The cost is far less- Indeed, while a plane ticket and weeks stay at a resort could cost you up to $4,000 during the winter season, the price drops to $2,500 in the summer time. 1.) Price shop: One resort will quote you a price and tell you that you’re on your own for alcohol in your room. Another resort nearby may quote you a cheaper price and include a stocked fridge or additional accommodations. If you take the first package you are offered, you could be missing out on a great opportunity. Money is tight and in tropical climates, it’s generally a good rule of thumb that everything is negotiable. This includes what is or is not available in your hotel room and free of charge.

2.) Tip the staff: A tipped staff is a staff who is going to do more for you. Some resorts even post signs saying not to tip the help which makes it a little taboo. They are catering to the guest population who is not comfortable with the act of tipping and want to feel as if they don’t need to do it. Well, they don’t need to do it, but if you do you are likely to get first rate service for your entire stay. The same goes with bartenders. Tip them once or twice nd you won’t need to tip them again the entire trip. They will see you coming and already have your drink ready if you’ve established a regular drink.

One of the main attractions of any tropical island is the outdoor activities. Few of us are lucky enough to enjoy a climate so comfortable that we get accustomed to water sports as a way of life. Winter time in Canada, New England and France, just to name a few areas, can be cumbersome as the cold can be brutal. Planning a trip to a tropical destination is a great way to get some rest and relaxation and escape the frozen windshields. Here are a few must have opportunities if you are looking at featured attractions on a tropical island.

1.) Scuba Diving- Scuba diving is worth putting first because it is probably the most important water activity available, After undergoing a short training course you will be set free to explore transparent blue waters. Hundreds off fish are swimming in schools and the sight is beautiful. Most islands you visit will feature scuba diving as a featured attraction. Spots are picked by the company you are staying with so you aren’t wasting time in an unimpressive area.

2.) Surfing- Not all islands are going to have good enough wave activity to try surfing. You should probably go ahead and skip this island. You simply have to take the opportunity to surf in tropical waters even if it means repeatedly falling on your face. The ways usually won’t get too big and you’ll treasure the experience.

3.) Game Fishing- Fishing in the neighborhood areas where you live might net you a trout or a mackerel. However, there is no telling what awaits you when you go fishing in tropical waters. Make sure you talk to the local bait shop about what you’ll want to use and what you want to catch. You may just catch your own dinner.

Can You Really Have A Shark As A Pet?

One of the best activities at any aquarium is spotting the sharks in the giant tank. Sharks are perhaps the most fascinating animal in the entire ocean. They have made people afraid to go in the water since Jaws first hot movie screens in 1977 before spawning a series of sub par sequels. The sharks in those movies were Great White sharks which have been known to get to about 50 feet long in size. Not all sharks get that big however. So, are there some sharks small enough that you could keep them as pets even as they enter adulthood? The short answer to that question is yes but there are a few caveats.

1.) Tank size- There are a couple species of sharks that never really get that big, growing to a maximum of just a foot and a half. To be fair, a foot and a half is still a pretty good size. You will need a tank big enough for the shark to swim around in without being totally miserable. Male sure you have a tank that’s accommodating in size or a shark might not be the best pet for you.

2.) Keep him well fed- Sharks do like their food. The preference of sharks is to eat meat and there is a variety of sea life that will accommodate its appetite. For instance, a shark loves to eat clams and mussels. You can also feed a shark scallops and even shrimp. By this point you’re probably thinking being a shark must be great as they done on many of the same foods their human owners enjoy.

Sharks can make very interesting pets. They actually do have charisma and are endlessly fascinating to friends and guests who come over. They are also a responsibility to be taken very seriously. Don’t put a shark among other wish unless you want those other fish to be eaten. Likewise, don’t cramp a shark by having him reside in an undersized tank.

Vacation to Barbados

If you are looking for a tropical vacation destination, Barbados may be the perfect place for you. It is the most easterly island of the Caribbean Island chain and it sits all by itself with the Caribbean on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. It is a small island at only 166 square miles and is 21 miles long and 14 miles wide. Water sports are available throughout the islands, including kite boarding, windsurfing and surfing. Other activities include horseback riding through the sugar cane fields or along the beaches, or a fishing trip to catch that monster swordfish or other large gaming fish that are located throughout the waters surrounding the island.

If you are only spending the day in Barbados as a stop during a cruise, you will definitely want to check out a shore excursion which would give you a chance to get the most out of Barbados in the least amount of time.

It may take a little more planning and saving, but having a great vacation isn’t dependant on not having bills to pay.

Figure out where you want to go, how you plan to get there, how long you want to stay, and what you plan to do while you are there. Make a vacation budget, so that you know ahead of time about how much money you will need to save for this great vacation. Once the plan is made, it’s time to start saving up. You may be wondering how to do this, if you are a little strapped for cash.

Consider a bill consolidation loan. This way, you can get all of your debt together, and be able to pay it off in one bill. This will usually lower the overall payment that is made. The extra money that you used to be paying can go into a savings account for your vacation.

Consider taking on an extra, part-time job. The money that you make from this job can go toward either paying off your bills quicker, so that you are no longer in debt, or it can go toward the vacation.

Sell your junk. As they say, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure. See if there is anything sitting around the house that you want to get rid of. If there is, try to sell it on craigslist or eBay.

The pacific islands forum meeting

The pacific islands forum meeting was held in Port Vial,Vanuatu. Held in the month of August this meeting invited the top leaders of the pacific. A lot of steadfast arrangements were made for this event by the government of Vanuatu. The country did well to make the event a grand success, considering that it had before this event celebrated its thirtieth independence day.

Topics of discussions revolved around the climate changes in the pacific islands, and its security concerns. Challenges that were being wrestled by the islanders was brought to the spotlight. The Pacific Plan was a new proposal that was discussed extensively.

The Pacific plan is a multipurpose strategy to look into issues faced by the inhabitants of the islands. It offered inventive strategies to overcome challenges by greater regional cooperation frameworks. A number of pioneering start offs was envisioned in the pacific plan. All these initiatives were directed at providing development across all regions of the pacific islands.

Strong growth, good policies, and sustained economic activity drivers were identified. Issue related to poverty and unhygienic living conditions came under the scanner. To improve living standards the forum leaders developed a strategy that combined employment opportunities with emphasis on education.

The main aim of the pacific islands forum has always been to work in unison to support the cause of welfare of the people of the pacific islands. This is done by bringing together the different governments and enabling cooperation and bilateralism.

From the forum members, Australia and New Zealand stand prominently as economically developed countries. This is a good thing for the other countries in the Pacific Islands. Australia and New Zealand are great markets for the island countires to market their goods. Also, Australia and New Zealand have supplied their troops to maintain peacekeeping activities in certain island countries of the Pacific.

India has been a dialogue partner. So is China. A lot of other countries are dialogue partners in the forum as well.
